Mothers day 2015

I made a card for my dear mother on mother’s day, we celebrate it a bit later than in the US and UK (still in May tho, I just forgot to update my blog a bit, hehe). I did some browsing on pinterest for inspiration and ended up with a combination of two cards. The text says “Well done mom”

Cardmaking weekend

It’s been a quite crafty weekend I must admit. I made three cards using up a lot of time, as usual! I often find myself spending most of the time just figuring out what to do and what paper or stamp to use. This weekend I found a layout I liked a lot and thought would be fun to make a card of. It took me several hours to come up with something following the sketch! So while pondering I made two other cards, one of them for my brother as his birthday is tomorrow!
I’ll just write the challenges used above each card to make it a bit easier to read.

Seize the birthday – anything goes with the option to use washi, which I did not do. I did however get to use my new hexagon die jenandtricks got me from UK! <3
The paper used is a mixture of some scraps, don’t rememeber the brandexcept for the brown (Echo Park) and the glittery one (DCVW). I cut out the letters using my Memory Box alphabet dies, which I love!

For this card I was inspired by Mojo Monday #369 – layout, Passion for promarkers #271 – add some sparkle. I love promarkers #243 – three of a kind. Once I saw the sketch I got an idea for the card. The papers are from Basic Grey – Persimon and First Edition – New Leaf.

And for this happy card; Veckans skiss # 38 – layout. I colored the stamp from Some odd girl and messed with colors on the cardstock. Punched some red and pink hearts from my scraps and I even got to use my new pearl mists I found on a sale, woho!

Birthday cards

I decided to work on my card stash this weekend and made two masculine cards using one of my favorite papers from the dapper dan collection.

For this card I was inspired by this week’s Retro sketch challenge #138

And this card was inspired by the Fab Friday challenge #53

Pregnant birthday girl

My brother’s girlfriend turned 25 this weekend and I made her a card. I also made a tag-cover thing for my gift, a few items from the body shop for her to use. She is pregnant and I thought she should use some time to care for herself once in a while before the baby comes.

For her birthday card I used white and pastels with some light grey. Her favourite colors are white and any pastel color. The layout was inspired by last week’s mojo monday challenge. Posted this a bit late so I didn’t participate, loved the sketch tho!

The tag/cover thingy (can’t find a good word for it) was inspired by this week’s colorQ challenge #263 and the previous sketch at Freshly made sketches (too late again to join the challenge). So clean and simple but it felt empty so I added a ribbon, tag and a colored stamp. She loved it!
My handwriting is usually quite bad and or ugly but this time I even amazed myself, I really loved the color combination too!

My mom was cleaning a crystal chandelier before the party, that’s why there are prisms in the background, hehe.

Wedding card

My mom was invited to a wedding and asked me to make a card for the happy couple. I used my favourite wedding stamp from weestamps

82nd birthday card

My grandfather turned 82 yesterday and I made a card for his birthday, and some cake.
I chose to use elements that I know he likes, such as raspberries, motorcycles, gold and shooting. He has been shooting in competitions for as long as I can remember and he took me and my brother for practice once a week when we were younger. I loved it and every summer I asked if we could go shooting with air pistols which he always brought with him to our summer house.
First I thought of adding a plain white or kraft tag but then I remembered I had some old paper targets left from my practice so I cut a tag out of one of them. Such a damn good idea I must say!
The raspberries are a few rhinestones glued together on a piece of paper, painted with some stickles to make them more pinkish.

My friend Jennie made the layout for me and the more I look at it, the more I like it. It’s interesting how much positive feedback I’ve gotten from showing the picture of the card. Now I just have to analyze what makes this card so god damn fab!

Since there is a challenge at 2 sisters challenge blog with the theme “just for dad” I decided to enter with this one. Exciting!
I’m also entering the current Alota Rubber stamps challenge (alota109): make a wish. I wished my grandfather a happy birthday (and more to come!) with this card. I think he liked it, he watched all the details for a long time.

A closeup on the raspberries, so happy to use my bling stash!

Here’s the cakes I made, roll cake (directly translated from Swedish; rulltårta), it might actually be called Swiss roll when translating it. I prefer to call it roflcaek. Anyway, the red one is filled with mashed fresh raspberries and the brown one is filled with a nut creme! Next time I’ll make one with lemon curd and maybe some strawberries.. *drool*
